Stackmint Glossary
What is a Branch?
Noun · workflow primitive
Definition
A Branch is a complete Stackmint workflow that connects Buds into a multi-step execution path. A Branch turns a prompt, trigger, input, or business event into a governed output, such as an alert, report, approval request, customer response, or system update.
Technical Anatomy
- Steps: ordered Buds that perform work across the workflow.
- Inputs and Outputs: structured data passed between steps.
- Variables and Context: runtime information injected into the workflow.
- Governance Gates: approval, audit, budget, and policy checks across execution.
- Surfaces: UI, API, MCP, Slack, CRM, support systems, or headless jobs where the Branch can run.
Enterprise Context
Branches are the sellable workflow assets inside Stackmint. Partners can version, fork, customize, deploy, and monetize Branches across client workspaces.
