Stackmint Glossary

What is a Bud?

Noun · execution primitive

Definition

A Bud is a reusable Stackmint primitive that performs one defined function inside a governed AI capability. A Bud can represent logic, a UI component, an API connector, a prompt instruction, a data transformation, or a human review step.

Technical Anatomy

  • Contract: each Bud should have a clear input and output shape.
  • Execution Role: each Bud performs one bounded unit of work.
  • Reusability: Buds can be composed into multiple Branches and capabilities.
  • Isolation: Bud behavior should remain scoped and inspectable.
  • Governance Compatibility: Buds can participate in approval, audit, budget, and policy flows.

Enterprise Context

Buds allow partners to turn repeatable service logic into reusable building blocks. For example, a sales risk scoring Bud, a Slack alert Bud, a MEDDIC review Bud, and a manager approval Bud can be composed into a Sales Derisking capability.
